Public open houses provide opportunities for engagement

A critical component of the FORWARD Kosciusko County Comprehensive Plan process is to engage local residents. The public open houses allowed residents to review project data and, through a series of interactive exercises, provide ideas and input on local existing conditions, future growth and connectivity and future priorities for both the County and their local community. Since updating the comprehensive plan is a public process and the County wants to involve as many citizens as possible, the FORWARD Kosciusko County team hosted three open-house workshops: one in each of the three county commissioner districts. Each meeting was held from 5:00pm to 6:30pm and was an open-house format where community members can gather and share their opinions in an informal setting. Project staff was on hand to collect input, discuss ideas and answer questions.

The meetings were held in the following locations:

  1. Thursday June 3, 2021, The Roost at Creighton’s Crazy Egg Café, 4217 W. Old Road 30 Warsaw, IN 46580 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

  2. Tuesday June 8, 2021, Silver Lake Lions Club 108 N. Harrison Street, Silver Lake, IN 46982 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

  3. Wednesday June 9, 2021, Milford School, 611 W Emeline St, Milford, IN 46542 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

The public meeting was advertised through a formal press release, social media invitations, and email campaigns along with additional marketing through the use of the Project Outreach Committee. The project steering committee, and stakeholder groups were also advised of the date during their respective meetings.
